The course takes a "top-down" approach to the issues of risk and finance provision, and analyses a range of trade finance products and methods.

Module 1: Concepts

Principles of asset-based lending; working capital and how to estimate needs; how banks structure facilities etc.

Module 2: Documents

Covers application of financial documents (negotiation of bills, advances, discounting, avalisation etc.); transport documents and other documents used in trade finance. (Release note, warehouse warrant, shipping guarantee, trust receipt)

Module 3 Methods and products

A range of products:

  • Collections
  • Export credit insurance
  • Factoring and invoice discounting
  • Forfaiting
  • Lending agains inventory
  • Bonds and guarantees
